Digital Leadership Competencies and Organizational Performance of Deposit Money Banks in Rivers State

ABSTRACT

This paper examines how digital leadership conpetencies namely, agile leadership and technological flexibility can determine the performance of deposit money banks in Rivers State, Nigeria. A quantitative survey research design was adopted, and 120 respondents at the management level were surveyed in 25 banks. The four assumptions with agile leadership and technological adaptability tested were to determine the relationship between productivity and efficiency with the use of Spearman rank correlation. Results indicate that all relationships under investigation have statistically significant positive correlation. Agile leadership proved to have significant effect on the productivity and efficiency with emphasis on the importance of responsiveness, flexibility, and team empowerment. The use of digital tools and automation, as well as innovation, also played an important role in operational improvement and was significantly correlated with technological adaptability and productivity and efficiency. The research concludes that the use of digital leadership competencies is a critical force of organizational performance and suggests strategic development of leadership and unceasing technological upgrade.
