The Nigerian FinTech industry has experienced exponential growth over the last decade, driven by digital innovations such as electronic wallets (e-wallets). E-wallets provide users with secure, convenient, and accessible platforms for payments, transfers, and financial management. However, challenges related to transaction failures, fraud, poor interface design, and interoperability have raised concerns about user experience (UX). This study empirically examines the relationship between e-wallet system attributes and user experience in Nigeria’s FinTech sector. Drawing on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and User-Centered Design (UCD), the study conceptualizes security, ease of use, transaction speed, interoperability, and trust as predictor variables, with user experience (satisfaction, perceived value, continuance intention) as the criterion variable. A quantitative survey design was employed with 400 active e-wallet users in south-south, Nigeria. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, multiple regression, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Results show that security, ease of use, and transaction speed significantly predict user satisfaction and continued usage, while interoperability and trust exert indirect but positive effects. The study concludes that user experience in Nigerian e-wallet systems is shaped more by reliability and functionality than by aesthetics alone. Recommendations include the adoption of user-centered design strategies, strengthening of cybersecurity measures, and enforcement of interoperability standards by regulators.
