This study conducted an Entrepreneurial Financial Analysis of United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA), one of Africa’s leading financial institutions. The analysis examined the bank’s macroeconomic contributions, industry position, competitive advantage, business strategy, financial performance, and future growth prospects. The study utilized data obtained from UBA’s audited financial statements, annual reports, investor presentations, and relevant economic publications covering the period up to the financial year ended 31 December 2025.The findings revealed that UBA plays a significant role in Nigeria’s economy through financial intermediation, employment generation, support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), infrastructure financing, financial inclusion, and trade facilitation. The bank’s extensive operations across twenty African countries and major international financial centres have strengthened its position as Africa’s Global Bank. The study further established that UBA possesses substantial competitive advantages arising from its pan-African network, strong brand reputation, diversified revenue streams, large customer base, and continuous investment in digital banking technologies. Financial analysis indicated that the Group’s total assets increased from ₦30.32 trillion in 2024 to ₦33.17 trillion in 2025, while customer deposits rose from ₦21.57 trillion to ₦23.95 trillion during the same period. Although Profit Before Tax declined from ₦803.7 billion in 2024 to ₦423.4 billion in 2025 due to increased impairment provisions, foreign exchange losses, and higher operating expenses, the bank maintained strong liquidity, adequate capitalization, and positive profitability. The study concluded that UBA remains financially resilient and strategically positioned for sustainable growth. The study recommends strengthening credit risk management, accelerating digital transformation, diversifying revenue sources, expanding SME financing, improving operational efficiency, and leveraging opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to enhance future performance and shareholder value.
