Nigeria as a country is blessed with a vibrant youthful populace that is capable of revitalizing its economic façade. Many authors have attributed the poor state of the nation’s economy to a direct negligence of the Nigerian youth. The youth remains the active set of individuals and therefore responsible for nation building. It is in light of this that the need arises for the Nigerian youth to be properly equipped and empowered so as to enable them to meet their needs and contribute to nation building. This study examines the use of an entrepreneurship model as a tool to effectively achieve the objectives of the various entrepreneurship programmes established by the government. The EDC entrepreneurship model was used as basis for this study because, the Model was applied in three developing countries in Africa. EDC entrepreneurship model is used in different contexts in understanding the key ingredients and impediments to successful youth entrepreneurship. The EDC’s report from these countries showed a high success rate of achievement. Conclusively, we recommend amongst others that Entrepreneurship programs established by the government should be executed using an entrepreneurship model as a guide in order to achieve what it was set up for.
